Dogs are barely conscience. That is unless woof woof means "I wonder if we need to send more aid to Java?" In many things and many ways Dogs are obviously not as bad/dumb as us but they can learn bad, like us. Though I don't think they can learn to be as good.
A dog would give you the shirt off his back if he had one. Or stand in the rain and shiver next to you if you were fool enough to keep him there, but his philosophical mind will not help you make the right moves when someone of the opposite sex wants to pat his cute little head. That's when you are going to have to come up with something better to say than a dog might think of. He wouldn't even be able to find out what was on at the movies. I couldn't imagine dogs ever being able to make vintage wine or cultivate long stem roses, blend chocolate, or do all the things necessary to live in the human world. Aspiring to be a dog is not the way to go. Humans are conditional and I think it is perfectly right and proper, greatly philosophical even, that we are.

I have a dog called Picasso who has an artistic temperament. He is a passionate type, but also a great thinker. He often sits on the lawn watching birds flap about in the trees and snapping at the odd flying insect. He is lord of all he surveys.
I asked him your question: "How can a human work on loving someone unconditionally?"
He thought about this for quite some time before appearing to suggest by his look that he thought humans don't lick each other enough. Or smell each other's bums. If they did, the world would be friendlier, except for that little Terrier who lives on the corner. Picasso would like to bite his ears off.
He has other quotes which he uses quite often.
"A dog is a dog."
"Where there's a human, there's a biscuit."
"I wag my tail. My tail does not wag me."
"My bite is much worse than my bark."
"A watched door never opens."

Absolutely not, a dog is perhaps the dumbest of all time. He can be led to slaughter; happy all the while. Also, if he runs out of food, he will just sit there and starve to death. Literally.
Humans should not work on loving unconditionally; we should hold our relationships in high regard. Unconditional love is easy love, be conditional and love yourself.
No, I would say tat cats are the greatest philosophical mind of all time :)

Cats have dogs beat at this, hands down. They aren't sleeping, they're thinking!
We as humans can learn to better love unconditionally by releasing and healing our past pains. Then we will be better able to accept love. Until we can accept love, without fear, we can never truly give unconditional love.

I think dogs are great philosophers. They just do not think, they prefer to sniff and lick other doggy´s a...ss...es.
The world would be much more peaceful if we all did the same. Indeed.

Man is philosophical and dogs are only loving animals.
Nevertheless, if given proper care, they are more loyal than man.
