Yes. The person with the cellphone could get an e-mail address and recieve e-mails (they are the same charge as their texts), they could get some instant messenger on their phone, or you could message them from Yahoo! instant messenger (and MSN I think, but Yahoo's better). If they can't recieve texts from a computer you'll get a notification. One thing I know is that with cellular south, you can e-mail them because their address will be the phone number (and area code) @csouth1.com. eg; 1235555555@csouth1.com

Yeah .. from yahoo messenger you can send a sms ... to know which company they are using , you can know from the beginning of the number .. usually each company has a unique starting number

If all else fails, you could email the message to your own phone (presumably you do know your own provider) and then forward that text message onto your friend.

yes, people email my phone all the time. Have them text your email address first and add it to your address list.
