OMG, yes!
Just sifting though all the "am I cute?" and the "what do girls like?" questions makes it almost not worth it.
maybe we should lobby for an "old freaks and geeks" category. lol.

I already know I am a lot older than most of the people in Tahoo Answers. That doesn't bothe rme; if I can give advice to someone who asks for it, well, it's good my experiences were able to help.
The questions which try my patience are the endless, "Do you like so and so better than so-and-so?" Or, "How is the new movie everyone's seen already?" Or "How do I download movies for free?". I don't answer these pointless questions, they are a waste of time and bandwidth.
I answer questions posed by those needing legitimate information. Sometimes an opinion is called for (when the asker wants personal info), but almost all my answers come from my experiences, not from some book I read. I do treasure reading, but reading is for learning about things you can't learn about any other way and it is no substitute for actually getting the experience first hand.

I agree with an early answer, some people are too young to answer questions. A young girl asked about her father's safety in Iraq as a military member the other day. One answer given was just horrid. I'm sure the poor girl was in tears over it. One must have the age and wisdom to recognize when comforting is needed before hitting the keyboard.

It not the question of Age, its the question of "do I have enough 'experience' to answer some questions that I have already been through, and can help some one who hasnt, so that they wont make the same mistakes that I have made and save them for the mistakes that they will make on thier own.
Age has no variance on this forum, experience is what is the betternment of all who are asking questions, and, we as older generation may help them with, so they dont have to make the fools out of themselves, or go through "all" the pain and miseries that we did...
Is it bad or good, I really dont know, but, I wish I had this type of thing when I was growing up, maybe I wouldnt of been such the idiot at times, I was and messed up enough to bring experience to this forum, eh?
I wish you well..

No not too old because with age hopefully comes wisdom and experience to pass on to younger askers. But I often wish that there were more challenging and intelligent questions. For example in the section on literature it seems as if no one reads anything other than Harry Potter!

It makes my head hurt when I realize some of the best questions are from 12 year olds, but some of the younger ones can be annoying with their poopy jokes

no, exactly the opposite, I think some people are far too young and inexperienced to answer (and even ask) some of the questions on here.
I'm 48 years old, and have lived some- there isn't much that shocks or surprises me any more!

well, there certainly a lot of teenies on here asking immature questions, and if I see one more rendition of "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" I think I'll puke, but there are a few legitimate questions on here once you wade through all the crap

I used to, but then I realized it was all of the adult influences in my life that scared me most, so now I answer as many as I can in hopes of keeping up the tradition.
