I need to restore it back to factory settings but i don't have an external hard drive to put all my files on to and there are too many to put on cd's so my question is: would I be able to use my friends computer to store my files and if yes how would I go about it and what leads etc would I need.

.If your friend has a network, just attach to his network, "share" your hardrive, and copy the files using Windows Explorer.

If he does NOT have a network, you can create a simple one using an Ethernet CROSSOVER cable (about $5-$15 at most stores that supply computers and electronics)... Just attach the cable to the Ethernet ports (RJ45) on each PC and proceed as above...

Assuming he has a large enough hard drive to add your stuff to, their should be no problems.

After you restore your system, just reconnect and copy your files back!

you shouldn't need to move all your files unless, by "setting it back to factory settings" you mean reformat the hard drive. If all you are doing is changing the settings your files will remain.

Restoring to factory settings should not destroy data. That has to do with your OS. Operating system.

You will only lose data by RE_FORMATTING. Do not do that.

You can put lots of data on CDs in any case.

See if anyone else agrees with me.

there aren't any factory settings as such for a computer so ask another question saying what problems you are having and we may be able to help

you can share it through a network .. and copy it to another computer ... or you can get a hard disk from the other computer , connect it to your computer ... copy the files to it .. and remove it back

yesy you can desing a local network with your computer and another computer and used the CDROM and hard disk for restore the infornations

you may get your friend's hard drive then also plug it in your pc... then copy the files..
