Check Sunday ads for mass merchants like Circuit City, Best Buy amd CompUSA...

Most have FREE (after rebates) printers each week on sale...

The manufacturers hope to make their profit later, selling you INK, so they GIVE AWAY the printers for FREE!

ok, in case you in basic terms want black and white, bypass with a laser printer. HP, Brother, Canon etc. HP and Brother the two have obtainable remanufactured cartridges for greater moderen fashions that yield as much as 3000-6000 pages reckoning on the form. in case you like shade something using an ink tank gadget will yield you the main pages (Takes new canon 8s, Brother 51s or the Epson line). the reason being no person ever makes use of all 3 hues CMY and black on a similar fee. in case you print say various scened with you on the coastline you will run via various blue ink and much less of the others. Printers the place all 3 hues are in one cartridge will interior the long-term get greater high priced. You pay $25+ greenbacks for that shade HP/Lexmark cart and you get 5-10 ml finished ink. You pay $40 5 for Brother, Epson or Canon CMY set and you get 30-40 5 mL finished ink. they provide 500 website yields at 5% insurance. no longer undesirable. And in case you run out of yellow you in basic terms replace yellow no longer the whole cartridge. only an theory. Plus filling ink tanks have a greater robust success fee than filling inkjet carts with printheads attafched like Lex and a few HP and the recent Canon 40/40-one/50/fifty one carts.

Everyone always looks at the inkjet as the best total price, but you have suggested to look at more...cost of operations also. I agree.

I have an inkjet that I got for free when I bought my PC. The two cartridges (one color and one Black) cost about $11 + $14 to print about 100-150 pages. That's about $.16 to $.25 per page and the printer was free. Good graphics though.

I bought a black and white laser printer. HP 1320 for $200. The cartridge is $57 for 2500 pages ($.02/page) or anther at $104 for 6000 pages( $.01/page). The cost of the printer is not rolled in, but I print double side and save more on paper also, besides the speed. It is rated for 10,000 pages/month and much faster than inkjet. I use if for papers I write, reading material, common printing. The inkjet is for much less pages/month, but I use it for good color, instant pictures.

The color laser may be worthwhile for more pages printed also.
