Though he has the talent and nack of picking up the wickets in any form of game, he didn't get the place in the squad as he is more effective when the batsmen are trying to defend their wicket. He is less effective when the batsmen are attacking and I can say that he is almost ineffective also.
This is the main thing that I have observed in his bowling. The other main reason is that he could not move fast in the field. I am saying that this is a main reason as of the famous saying that "CATCHES WIN MATCHES". So fielding is the important aspect of this game.

He is a very good test player! he is a bit old now, ODI demands alot of strenght whereas i think anil is loosing the strenght day by day (as most big player do lose strengh as they get old). he is very good for test, he can perform alot in the test as the test needs less physical strenght and gives a reasonable rest to the players. He is doing as every big bowler does, that is he is giving time to test, But i am sure he will play in the Worldcup.

The selectors haven't given a valid answer. He may be bit slow in field and his age may not be favouring him. But I feel he is a real match winner like any other heroes
