Yes, this is a dangerous threat. And as you know that , there are numbers of thousands Adware/Spyware/Trojans that are infecting innocent Internet users such as yourself through downloadable games, music, screensavers, pictures, pop-ups, and the list goes on and on. Spyware and Adware can cause your PC to run extremely slow and even crash, and allow hackers and advertising companies to invade your privacy whenever they wish.
It is always better to have a software that can protect your computer and you. Adware/Spyware/Trojans are more dangerous, coz of the simple reason that they steal your information. Your banking account password is much more worthy to them than your computer.

You have spyware/adware/malware.
You have a virus that shows your pc to that spam website. If your Windows XP SP 2 Blocker couldn't work, get Ad-Aware and scan and delete the spyware. You could now be clean of those pop-ups.
And, it's always better to have some anti-spyware and firewall programs installed along with a Mozilla Firefox browser. Mozilla is better and more added security than

The new internet explorer has a built in pop up blocker , beside the yahoo toolbar has a pop up blocker also

hi, i recommand you to try firefox.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
