Look up in the phone book or on-line where there nearest branch is. Often it is in a supermarket. The sender proves who they are and the reciever proves who they are. Western Union takes money and significant fee from one and gives it to the other, having kept the fee.

The fee is much larger than for a postal money order ($0.90) or a bank wire transfer (few dollars). It is sort of like a tax on poor people who don't know about or can't use other services (because they have no bank account, etc)

If you are going to do this repeatedly, and you can completely trust the other person, a shared bank account with an ATM card in each person's names would allow the receptient to access the money that the wage-earner puts into the account. At no fee, if at the bank's own branchs. Only $1-2 if at some other bank somewhere else in the world.

If you don't completely trust the person, you could still set up such an account, but limit the balance to the amount you wish to transfer.

Just proceed to the nearest Western Union Branch and send your money there. You will be required to pay a minimal charge fee.

They have forms at the supermarket that are self explanatory. The cashier is also a help. You can also use a check cashing place they always have the forms their and will also help you and tell you what to do. You can go to their website and use a credit card to send money. Either way you choose to do it it gets there in a couple of minutes.YOU DON'T NEED IDENTIFICATION TO SEND MONEY ONLY TO PICK IT UP. if the receiver doesn't have an id you can make a secret question for them to answer.

Why not tell her to contact the nearest US consulate? THEY will help her. That's what they DO. Of course they'd want to know if someone who sent her money is involved in whatever she's up to, or is a victim of a scam. So, yes, you'd be asked what you're up to. You DO realize you know NOTHING at all, right? That "girl from Georgia stuck in western Africa" could easily be a 45 year old man, in his mother's basement in Ohio. Most likely, you're just being scammed. But, yes, it's possible you could get in trouble. Why not just tell her to contact the nearest US consulate?

You have to take identification and go to a western union, then they ask you specific details about the person you are sending money to (name, address, passport number sometimes) then u give them the money and the other party can go receive it from them. u can also look at their website
