when their individuality is compromised,it poses a threat for them ,but when they affect those who really are different they dont understand how what they do affects these people maybe not in the way that uniform affects "them",but it does damage them in the time to come.take it from someone who is nowhere near normal,i understood that most kids will go with the crowd, therefore the influence of one child could lead the entire group to ostrocize one individual.

Because they are kids... And kids can be cruel... There's always someone stupid enough to try to make others look bad so no one would see how inconfident he/she really is... And other follow (not all kids are born leaders)...
As for the uniforms, what they really dislike is usually the uniform itself... If the uniforms were made according to what kids today think is cool, they would all wear them, they usually look uniformed as it is (jeans and t-shirt) AND still find a way to show individuality....

they're kids. they're not always gonna make sense. besides, to them uniforms are not cool and being different is also not cool. unless it's different in a cool way.
