In GB you only get help with your rent if you've got less than £16000 in the bank, and if you've saved a lot more than that for your old age, it's no good stowing it away/giving it away 'cos they'll still take it into account even if it's not in yours anymore!

If you live here in Australia you might be eligable for a pensioner allowance, which may also allow you to recieve a rent assistance sum. It's not much, but call Centrelink to find out. They also have a website. something like centrelink.gov.au

Move into Public Housing...

The Government only takes a percentage of your wage and puts it to the rent...

You are responsible for telephone and cable, while they pay for the rest...
