why India is so poor?

India was a very prosperous area before the Islamic invasions. Much of India's wealth was carted away by Islamic invaders. Western invaders carted away much of what was left when the UK annexed India.

Like so many other devestated nations India started to rebuild. This rebuilding was slow because.

1) Bad Weather,
Weather has been a problem as droughts and floods have historically wreaked so much havoc.

2) Crowded,
Overpopulation has been a huge problem.

3) Not Industrial,
The lack of industrialization which is fast changing was due primarily to Gov corruption and divisions in India. This is rapidly changing but Indias backward technological philosophy for many years hurt India and is why India was so easily invaded by the English.

4) Corruption. The more corruption the poorer the people will be.
There is a direct corelation between corruption and povery in a nation. India groaned under successive corrupt Govs from the time they regained most of India from the Muslims until very recently.

The upper castes in India have never been poor. Today you are seing the middle castes rise up and a break down of the caste system all together. It's taking time but the caste system has been a major prob for India for eons. Some of thier best and brightest are garbage men because of an accident of birth.

Economically India is in full gear and the proceeds are not just trickling down it is showering down in urban areas. The rural areas are still in rough shape and India's economy is still very fragile. China in particuler would love to derail India as it see's Inida as copitition. Either that or absorb india.

Who says , please update your knowledge , India is the only place where people are happy with their way of long preserved natural life . Materialistic way of life can not be considered as rich and natural way is poor .
To day entire world is talking about Global Warming & giving warning that natural resource are going to finish for ever , even water will also not availabe for the coming generation
Now entire world is advocating to lead a simple life & conserve energy as well as protect environment by using very judiciasly .
But Indians are already practicing the world is suggesting . So one should not make a staement that India is poor or less than any progressing country .

India is becoming much wealthier than it used to be, because of outsourcing and the general flattening of the world that has occurred in the early 21st century. I hope that India continues on this path. Free markets and a business-friendly environment are keys to a nation's wealth, in the new flat world more than ever.

It's not so poor anymore, there are yuppies there, the U.S company's outsource there because it's cheaper, now the "Push starts" think that they invented American technology, and that they are better than us, Ever call the "Dell" hot line ? it sure isn't like the Dell commercials, you call them, and you get INDIA, and an attitude like they invented computers and you're stupid. You can't offend them, so ya might as well tell them what you think about them. Cockroaches !
