I just love the way Douglas Adams wrote.
Every sentence is funny in some way.
EG: the ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.
that's just the way the cookie gets completely stomped on and obliterated.
there is a knack to flying, it lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Zaphod, Marvin, Ford, Agrajag, the great prophet Zarquon. The most intelligent nonsense I've ever read.

One of the things Ford Prefect had always found hardest to understand about humans was their habit of continuously stating and repeating the very very obvious, as in It's a nice day, or You're very tall, or Oh dear you seem to have fallen down a thirty-foot well, are you all right?

far too many, but for arguments sake, Marvin has the best lines and moments.
Marvin: "Reverse primary thrust Marvin, that's what they say to me, open airlock number three Marvin, Marvin can you pick up that piece of paper? Can I pick up that piece of paper? Here I am, brain the size of a planet..."
Marvin: "But I'm quite used to being humiliated. I can even go and stick my head in a bucket of water if you like."
