A lot of it could be from childhood abuse. Some comes from being alcohol, or drug use. It just really depends on the individual case and person.

the dark side of our nature unleashed and unchecked. in lots of crimes people who commit them have been drinking or doing drugs before they commit them. not that the substance made them do it, not at all! no they already made up their minds to do it. they use substances to stifle their conscience. it's in our nature. all of us. to do good or do evil. depends on which side of our nature we give our attention too. which side we nourish and try to develop. it is a choice. but there are environmental factors in it as well. but i won't go into all that.
