It could be short-sightedness. Perhaps they perceive it will be easier to get through something by lying, because they feel they will just get away with it and nothing more about it will be said.

On the other hand, perhaps they know it will be more difficult, but feel that the result is worth the effort of weaving such a tangled web of lies.

Well, those are my guesses anyway! I have always felt that the truth is the best explanation for anything, but I haven't had anything horrendous to hide either. :)

Becasue people act on two things; Emotion and Logic and they don't operate fully at the same time, one takes the lead.

Some people once they've said it it's fact to them and there is no cinvincing them. Not even voice recordings of them contradicting themselves. Trust me...

There isn't "one" answer to that question. Many varibles many calculation many results. each must be looked in its context to be understood.
