Virus - a program, set of data, that can harm a part or the entire computer. Having a virus can be either a serious or small thing, either what kind of virus it is.
There a different kinds of viruses. With different specifications, you may know how to remove them up.
1. Trojan - One of the most simplest kinds of virus, and can be easily avoided according to the user's decision. THey usually benign as a download, e-mail attatchment or a fake web page. They do not replicate to other files nor other cmputers. They can only replicate if the infected file is moved by the user.
2. AdWare - can be transmitted like a trojan but has different effects. They show unwanted ads, mostly fakes, like pop-ups, dialog boxes, etc.
3. Spyware - Can be one of the most powerful ones, they can REALLY know where your computer is, your PC's IP addresses, your name, your personal information and your contacts. Removal is critical to avoid further problems. They can be associated with adware. One of the most famous of these spyware is Rootkit.
4. Worm - a computer worm can replicate to files, replicate to other computers and other machines with ease. Worms can make their own STMP engines and send e-mails with viruses to various computers in the world. THey should be removed immedietely. Among of replication procedures are to send infected files to disks, use LAN to transfer from one computer to another, or use e-mail accounts and STMP servers to send anonymous, virus-infected e-mails to other computers.
5. Hardware / CMOS / BIOS virus - the most DEADLY type. I repeat : THE MOST DEADLY TYPE. It infects a whole set of hardware whether your video card, sound card, RAM memory, hard disks, CD drives and most especially, your motherboard. Removal is unnecessary because when infected your computer is TOTALED. Only prevention can deflect this virus, although this kind of virus is NOT transmittable to other machines.
That's all a computer virus genius knows. Got infected so many times my PC gts reformatted so many times.
To get protected get at least one of the following:
1. Anti-Virus
2. Anti-Spyware
3. Firewall
Optional : Anti - Spam, if you use Outlook.
