Im generalising, so dont tell me that Im wrong, cause I know every case is different. But GENERALLY why do gay men have to be feminine and lesbians masculine? It's like an automatic rule.

salvador_m, ha, could it be societys fault? Thats just stupid. If they would care so much about what society thinks, theyd revert their preferences to the opposite sex, since thats what society mainly expects. I doubt anyone would change so much only to accommodate other peoples whims.

Don't expect too many serious answers to a question which contains a fallacy. "Most" people, gay or straight, don't act one particular way. You, and others who like to generalize, only "see" people who act out of character (i.e. men acting in a way you believe feminine, and vice versa)... you simply don't notice the great majority who act as you expect them to act.

Society teaches men and women to act in certain ways. Individuals of both genders modify how they behave to conform to societys expectaions.
I think gay and lesbians have gone against the social grain by living thier lives as homosexuals. As a result they're less inclined to care about gender roles and don't modify their behavior at all, becasue they don't care about them.

both men and woman are more or less masculine gay or straight. I played football with the boys growing up. it doesn't make me a lesbian.
I have noticed that they couple up one girl is butch and the other girly. my generalization

because if you haven't noticed, gay men like other men and usually the sex of a person that likes men is a FEMALE.
same with lesbians

it's a rule.
someone is gay or lesbian because his/her testosteron (hormon for men) or hormon for women outpower that for his sex. so he's gay and is feminine or masculine.
