Uniforms every time. At least then the kids don't have to worry about getting the latest gear for school, or turn up with holes in their jeans or whatever.

I use to think school uniforms were stupid ...until my kids went to a school were they were required. Talk about easy! The kids got up in the morning and knew exactly what they were wearing. Mornings went very smooth. In school, nobody knew what kind of background (financially) any kid came from. Suddenly, all the kids had friends, teachers did so much more teaching because the kids were not distracted! It was amazing! Teachers also wore them. It seemed like the school was able to focus on what they were supposed to be doing, teaching, because the administration was NOT wrapped up in dress code volition's! Tummies showing, sandals, things like that (which by the way I think is ridiculous for the schools to worry about in the first place!) After about a month, my kids stopped complaining about the uniforms and said they weren't that bad. Also, the school showed a dramatic increase in test scores. So ya, I use to think school uniforms were dumb, but not anymore. Our school systems have so many problems to begin with, this just alleviates a few.

I think school uniforms are a good idea, and kids should have to wear them. It saves poorer children having the piss taken out of them because they can't afford to have the latest gear. I also read a book a while ago about a kid who when he was young was neglected by his parents and only had one set of clothes, so people could see that he never changed them and teased him really badly. At least if he was wearing a uniform it wouldn't have been so obvious.

I wish uniforms would make a level social playing field and let people just focus on academics, but rich kids will always have other ways to flaunt their wealth (expensive gadgets, jewelry, etc.) and obnoxious kids will always find ways to tease other kids.
I am a fan of the school uniforms. Had to wear one in high school which I initially hated but then grew to appreciate. Made mornings a lot easier to deal with.

I went to a school with uniforms and loved it. Really don't have to think of what to wear each day and everyone is on the same level. No more rich kids parading around with their brand names or poor kids in relative rags. You go to school to study, not to make a fashion statement.
This might be one reason our high school kids are dimmer than those of countries like Japan.

I think that school uniform is an excellent idea, as children are from different backgrounds and some parents don`t earn as much as others so they cant afford to buy thier children the latest fashions. Otherwise the children would be picked on and be bullied.

school uniforms are a great idea on grown ups-now that sounds really pervy but its a real turn on for us grown ups-as for the kids-i think that uniforms go a long way to removing peer pressure on kids to wear this or own that and also keeps them lookin reasonable whilst at school-i think if they were left to their own devices the turnout would be a bit scary!!

Im kinda split on this issue. On one hand, I know lots of people that get teased(or worshipped) because of what they wear and uniforms would completely get rid of that. but, on the other hand, people should be able to express themselves and the easiest way to do that is with clothes. if you see someone wearing the same style as you, you are more likely to approach them friendly than someone who isnt. If my school did choose to switch to uniform for next year, then I would be fine with that, but if they dont, I am still fine with that.

I think the uniforms are a GREAT idea. No one can be pointed out as a freak, poor, rich, or what have you. They also help focus on work and education which is the whole ideal of school. Not "Sallies" belly piercing or "Joe's" $300.00 jeans.
