I don't know if this is relevant but there was a sweet called 'Nuttalls Minto' which was made in the UK. It was a creamy coloured hard sucky-sweet with a mild mint taste. I think they were widely advertised at one time so the name 'Minto' was pretty well known. I don't know if they are still made - I'll try and find out.
