Last season was the first time I could say "the Lakers were robbed!!" They were up 3-1 and LOST! I don't like the Lakers but I must admit that the playoffs are not the same without them.
They will definitely make some more noise in the playoffs next season.
Right now, I don't see good chemistry with the Lakers. Lamar Odom needs to realize that he is the 2nd go to man when Kobe can't get his shot off. Odom needs to step up!

What do you mean "Why can't they get together anymore"? Most of those players from the championship teams are long gone. The only thing they have left is Kobe, and it's been proven time and time again that he's incapable of being a leader.
Getting Phil back helped but they need a lot more than that to get back into contention. It's not going to happen for several years, at least.

Phil did help them a little. They made the playoffs this year, and with a little luck they could have made it to the conference finals. They need a few more successful veterans on the team. Right now they just don't have enough talent to win it all. Phil & Kobe can only do so much. If your looking for the goat,it would have to be GM Mitch Kupchak. He sucks so far, especially when you compare him to former Laker great GM Jerry West.

Because there is no chemistry (I know it sounds so cliche). Also shaq left. When Shaq was with the Magic he had Penny and they did very well. Shaq goes to the Lakers and has Kobe, they do extremely well, and the Magic don't. Shaq leaves the Lakers and has Dwyane Wade, the Heat does very well, and the lakers don't. Does anyone see a pattern? Where every Shaq goes, there's always a good guard and where ever Shaq goes that team does well. Simple. Shaq has some form of chemistry that allows whatever team he goes to do good, and whatever team he leaves to do bad. Just think about it. It's really simple.

The Lakers did very well last year despite their lineup. Their starting guard Smush was a benchwarmer with other teams. Their center Kwame was a failed experiment. Their other center Mihm suffered an injury. Their other 'respectable' player Lamar was not aggressive enough. They really had a horrible lineup last year. Definitely a one-man team that was Kobe. But in the end, as all eyes were fixated on Kobe "the team man", he just self destructed. Too bad. It could have been a dream LA playoff encounter.

What Kobe and Phil done last season was remarkable. Phil proved he is a great coach. Even though they are rebuilding L.A. could've shocked some people last season. It was unfortunate that Kobe had 3 bench players in the starting 5 with him. I don't think any other palyer in the league could've led this team to the palyoffs.

Kobe is the problem. While he is a good player, he is so stuck on himself and his talents, that he is battling trying to let his teammates get more involved in the games, because this would take some of the glory for him. Oh and God forbid, what would happen if one of his teammates, was the go-to-guy when the game was on line, and they took the last shot. He says he wants to win again, but this is a team game and he will have to figure out how to be a team player. I think that will come when they keep losing.

Team chemistry is a very under-rated entity. The Heat, Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Pistons, etc., all had it last year. The Lakers did not. For Kobe to be the consummate player, he must be the coach on the floor and think "team" first and self later.

that was the first year in rebuilding and took the suns to seven games. now anybody who thinks they wont get better is a fool. i think the biggest player to improve will be luke walton he is a solid player with a high basketball I-Q and will improve in the triangle. also i expect to see an improved lamar odom i even hearf he quit smokin weed behind the death of his infant son that may inspire him to play to his full potential also farmar will help them and also allow them to run kobe at the three sometimes. this answers crowd is such kobe haters i dont like him either but he is the top player in the nba nobody can guard him and none of the top players dont wanna see him on defense

The Lakers--thanks to Mitch Kupchak--are under salary constraints for the last decade. They finally should see relief next season, they may be in the market for available talent, but I am not sure if anybody would want to play alongside Kobe Bryant, and his ego.
