My red eared slider turtle is shedding it's shell. Should I peel it myself or let it peel by itself?

Let it peel by itself-they come off gradually and if you peel it, you might hurt the turtle-it's like if you had a hangnail and someone ripped it off instead of letting you take care of it yourself. Leave the poor turtle be and let it naturally do what it knows to do. Be patient and observe nature at work.
