Call Dell's support number and explain your situation.
Hopefully they can send you a CD or show you how to burn a CD from what is on your computer ( a lot of new computers these days come with a special partition set aside for cases just like yours, and the Dell person will be able to walk you through that, hopefully) (that's the idea, anyway).

F8 Boot to a last known good configuration. Now there are no guarantees about this. However it is the best chance you have at this point . OR you don't have to have a date set look for a system check point on the system restore. Oh yeah don't take advice from some one that uses other OS Cd's. You could get into trouble big time with Microsoft..

Not much you can do besides that System Restore unfortunately. Unless you made a backup or pre-imaged your hard drive beforehand, your only other option is to call Dell and ask for a restore CD for your laptop or reinstall Windows XP, system drivers, and anything else that came with it when you purchased it.

If you like, Dell Inspiron 6000 has a restore CD, you can download it from Dell.com.
or You can use one of imaging software like Ghost, but this can be done if you already did it before.
good luck

If you want to restore it how it came to you do a format and reinstall. If you don't have a disc you'll have to buy a copy of XP.
