The differing personalities on the teams throughout the teams' histories have contributed much to the the perception of the rivalry but, in recent years, both teams have been largely irrelevant,, rendering the rivalry moot. In modern times, I believe that most Cowboys fans are more interested in dismantling the Eagles than they are the Redskins.

I'm an Eagles fan. I have a deep seeded hatred of everything having to do with the cowboys.
I was at the game when Michael Irvin's neck got broken and his career ended. It was a beautiful day. We were cheering his temporary paralysis. We were admonished on ESPN & CNN for cheering. They don't understand the depth of the vitriolic hatred we in Philly have for dallas. and now f'n t.o....

There are a lot of people in Texas who always go for the Texas team when they are not playing each other.
