I really don't know the odds. This is not a dumb question though. I sometimes think it runs in families, but since the father is the predictor of the sex, I don't know how.
In my family, my mother had boy and girl, my sister had girl and boy and I had boy and girl. But, I know families that all the girls have girls. Then their kids grow up and all the girls have boys.
I'd say that at least 80% if not more of my friends have 2 boys, or 2 girls. I know many that have 4 boys or girls and still can't seem to get the opposite sex. In answer to your question, No, I do not think most of the second born are of the opposite sex.
I wish I could tell you the odds or the secret, but somehow, it just seems to be the luck of the draw.
If you're pregnant, I hope you get what you're wishing for.

No. The odds are the same each time a woman becomes pregnant. She has a 50% chance of a boy and a 50% chance of a girl, because the only possible combinations are XY or XX

Nope, there is an even chance everytime you get preg.
Like flipping a coin. The previous flip has no bearing on the next one.
There are treatments that offer better odds, but there is no guarantee. Plus, it is costly. My cousin is having it done, $17,000.00!!! For a 75% chance of a girl.

I wish that were true then we sould be sure to get a boy. But it differs with everyone. My sister had girl, boy, girl (lucky). My mother'n'law had 4 boys in a row then a girl. So maybe look at others in your family and the baby's family and see what kind of pattern they had with their children and it might give you a small idea of what you will have next.

No... Whichever sperm X or Y that reaches your egg first has a lot to do with the female body... Vaginal Secretions..... ph levels can help to make or break either sex sperm from reaching the egg to fertilize it.... You could also have an X and Y both trying to fertilize and one is stronger than the other and breaks the nuculous first.

It is a 50% chance either way. The strongest sperm that gets there first.

I don't think the fact that it's a second pregnancy has anything to do with it. I have two boys. :)
