I dont think this is a new trend . Kirby had the Emtor in their early vaccums. Why didnt companies think of that idea years ago?

Well because Kirby charged a LOT more for their vacuums they were able to research and improve their models considerably, nevermind collecting up all the old vacuums as a little money back to their customers, they were able to see how everyone machines worked, or didn't for that matter.

The bagless system isn't an easy one to perfect, dust does come out of many bags and bins still today. So to perfect the science took a bigger name to research and produce an accurate system that contained the dust particles.

I have a Rainbow vac. They have been aound for 30 or 40 yrs.
It's a huge improvement over the Kirby I had. No more dusty old bags to deal with. I remember when I was a little girl about 60 yrs, ago there was another vac. that used water to collect dirt. Can't remember name of it.

They did......My family had a canister vaccum in the early 60s..all it took was a kind of filter at the top..where the motor seperated from the canister...the filter was kinda like a heating filter for houses...it was made out of amuminum..and stainless steel

The Shopvacs are the plastic equivilent of what we had...it worked fine too....

How many years are you talking about? The "Rainbow" vacuum came out at least 40 yrs. ago. It has no bag as it collects the dust in a water reservoir that you just dump away with no dust to fly around in the process.

Yes, it would save people the extra money to buy the bags and to try to get just the right type for the right vacuum cleaner.

They did, but the government wanted it kept a secret, they feared it would ignite a revolutionary conflict
