Mean People: Why do you do it?

Question

When I was in highschool i can admit I was modrately
popular, I knew alot of people and associated with different
groups. At an early age I learned to respect people that
were different than me whether they be fat, unattractive,
nerdy etc.

But all growing up there was always someone who got
picked on because of the way they looked or how they
dressed. I remember I had this group of guy friends,
some of them were skaters and they where incredibly
mean to this one girl. Apparently her face was unattractive
to them because her mouth structure protruded a little.
Everytime they would see her they would make goat
noises at her. Finally one day i told them to go #@**
themselves. And i never hung out w/ them again.

I also had a friend who was kind of a big boned
gaal, short and stocky but not fat or anything.
And all the guys called her ugly, and cave woman.
The girls where no better of course.

Doing the same to girls and boys. So WTF why?
Why do you people do this?I never did

Dont you guys know that it hurts people?
That it makes people cry?
Scars them? I have had many friends
with self esteem issues...and mostly
because of horribly rude people
who dont care about ones feelings.

Luckily because i was in the popular
crowd i had alot of opportunity
to call people on it and show
them what jerks they were being.
But still do this day I will never
understand why.

Listen: people who are abused like that have a reason for being abused like that.

If they are fat, lose weight. If the stink, take a god damn shower.

Because people are scum- every one of us- we all have erasers on our pencils. What I think you are wanting to know is why do we make fun of others that are not just like us? Because we are insecure about our own looks and are afraid of being outcast from our little"click" and have to fall in with the pack and do and say whatever it takes to "conform". We all have very high opinions of ourselves- even if we have low self esteem- and even if you try real hard not to be raciest, you will still find yourself making fun of the way someone talks, walks, looks, or acts...it's just human nature. But if you can see that in yourself and make fun and laugh at yourself and not care when others do than it doesn't hurt so bad. We are all different and I think we should all make fun of each other- IT'S FUN!!!- but I am a man and that is what we are taught from the time we are little boys...But as a man I have learned not to make fun of those who can't take it and don't dish out what you can't swallow yourself!!!

I think every person who bullies does it for a different reason, but no one can really tell why someone does it, some do it to make them look good, like the "popular" students picking on the people who are "unpopular" to make them look cooler around hteir friends, I think also some people pick on the people who can wear something they cant becoz they r insucre about them, its not jsut fat people that get picked on the skinny people get picked on too being called anorexic and stuff. just the world of bullying is so complicated
