No agent should charge you, or it's a stupid scam. You send them a photo (no...dont' have it professionally done) and a very brief "resume" of what the kid can do. Any special skills, etc. From there, they will call you for an interview, and will take a percentage of the bookings your kid gets. William Morris Talent Agency in Los Angeles is one of the most well known.

i don't think there are any agents who work for free...in fact, i don't think any one is willing to do anything for free...if you are serious about acting, then start saving up, while you save up, do community plays to gain experience, good luck :)
