Me and my husband want to get two cars to share, a fun little car and an SUV as a family car.

For Suvs we are looking at:

Lexus GX
Lexus LX
Porsche Cayenne S ( This is a very fun car)
Range Rover ( Something my husband likes, I don't like em)
Volvo XC 90 ( in the V8)

For fun cars we are looking at:

Porsche Boxster S
Lexus SC430 ( does not handle like a roadster, but has a nice ride)
Mecedes SL 500/Slk 55

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Was looking at the X5, but since they are redesigning it next year, I think I am going to hold off on that

I think you should buy me a car, since you obviously have a lot of money to throw around...either that or you're lying...who buys two cars at the same time unless they robbed a bank?

Wow, these people really for the most part really have no idea what they are talking about? How could the Boxster S suck? It's a pretty powerful auto. Maybe he was thinking of the regular boxster. I would not look at Ford, chevy, Niassan, VW or any of those. Quality wise they are NOWHERE near the quality of something like a Lexus. They will not provide you with the handeling or the preformance you look like you want, You also look like you are looking for preformance out of an SUV, so I would get the Cayenne S, I would actually consider getting the Lexus SC or the Mercedes SL 500, because with the Cayenne, you will have a car that handles like a sports car already.

Well, if you seriously want an SUV, as in off-road vehicle, the Range Rover is the only serious one. The others are very capable luxury multi-use vehicles. I'd also give the Acura MDX a look; it's a fine piece of engineering as well. If you don't plan on doing any serious off-roading, the Volvo XC70 is probably a better family car.

We seem to have different ideas of fun, since none of your choices would be in my short list. And at the level you're talking , the Boxster feels sortof cheap. I'm keen on the BMW Z4 in that range. Oh, and I have to partially take it back; I did look at an SLK 55. But I haven't taken one out for a test drive yet. If you want to take the kids along occasionally, the Lexus would probably make the most sense.

Reserve the fun for the sports car, I would say the Boxster S. The Lexus' will be the most reliable and best daily drivers, but do not offer up a lot of fun. The Chevy Trailblazer can be had with a 400hp V8, as well Jeep cramming 425HP into a Cherokee. They are probably not as upscale inside as you are looking for though. On the convertible, I would also check out the new Jag, looks great and is a big improvement over the model it replaces.
