It is easy,
there is only one player in the UN and the political world, that us US.
And please lets stop this bragging that Israel is defending itself, how can you be defending yourself against children and women in Palestine that have only rocks in their hands against one of the most sophisticated armies in the world. For 1 Israeli soldier Israel has the right to attack millions of people killing most innocent ones, but for 10,000 Palestine prisoner, the Palestinians don't have the right to attack soldiers?!!
Just look again, the Palestinians asked to set free all the women and children below 15 for the Israeli soldier, and Israel and behind it the US has answered with killing of hundreds!! and u call this defending itself?!!

This question has been asked, in variation, by numerous others. The answer, here as there, is this: The invasion of Israel by Hizbollah and others is an act of war. Israel is legally and morally justified to obliterate an enemy which has said, over and over again, and acted, over and over again, that its purpose is to destroy Israel. It is unfortunate that innocent Lebanese civilians have wound up in the middle of this mess. but that is all too often the case in war: the innocent suffer most.

well most of the european nations in the U.N are against Israel's use of excessive force against civilians in Lebanon, and are currently trying to organize a ceasefire or peace keeping force. but then again, the United States has veto power in the U.N, so it may be difficult...
