Where do you teach, where did you go to school? Any tips or reccomendations? I have always wanted to try this as a career to support my travel photography.

Hi there, teaching english abroad is a very popular and inexpensive way to travel the globe and learn so much. To get started, write to or call the school below. They have offices in Boston and Guadalajara Mexico and from what I've read are one of the best. They offer job placement and usually you can pick your own geographical area that you'd like to teach in. The general TEFL is great to have but if you pursue it a little further you can also get the business one whereas you would be teaching English to foreign business people and that pays double what the TEFL pays. You'll meet so many different interesting people you'll probably never want to return home, it's easy to get lost in wonderland when your in another country experiencing their many different cultures and customs.

I used to teach long time ago. I am only a high school graduate but a bachelor's degree in any field is recommended to gain respect.
I found that it took 3 years for a student to go from say :-
Level 1 : This is a book.
To Level 12 : Had the surgeon known you had already had an operation he wouldn't have recommended the second one.
You assess the level of the students and start from there.
There are several sets of language books which provide text and guide to achieve targets in Vocab, Grammar, Speaking reading, and writing.

In each class I introduced a set of words, did some sentence strucuture. Practice speaking without reading. Reading and quick writing. And then in the end Speaking as in Role Play or speech etc.,

Teaching can be fun if you are prepared and if you understand your students level and can motivate them to speak !!!

You will meet a lot of interesting people, not only in your students but all the other teachers from all over the world. I enjoyed the teacher's lounge !!! Oh, that reminds me of those crazy days.

One of my chinese girlfriend, she spoke only chinese - was a teacher int he same English Conversation school I taught at.

I used to... in Argentina, I made a career out of it. You should get books on foreign language (tofle, I think it's call that, can't recall) it's a teaching AND learning experience! I made good money! and you can do your own teaching programs, I used to have people translate cool songs/movies, it made them think and have fun too... they loved me
