Why do some cars have 2 doors and others have 4? Which is best?

You get a 2 door car when you want do discourage all your friends from asking for rides. You get a 4 door when you want to drive everyone around.

It mostly depends on what you plan on using it for. If you have a back seat, a four door is immensely more practical. And it's easier to get in and out of the car in a tight parking space with a four door.

But some people are hung up over 'looking cool', and a two door is frequently seen as inherently 'cooler'. ( And a 2-seater is infinitely cooler, of course ! ) But other than that, I can't think of any real advantages of a two door.

I own a station wagon ( five doors, including the back ) and a Civic coupe, described as a three-door because it's a hatch back. It's lighter and shorter than the two door coupe ( i.e. with a trunk) and gets better mileage, but that's because of more than just the two doors, obviously. If I'm taking a bunch of friends along, the wagon is the way to go, and much more comfortable. Just for getting to work and back, though, it's either the Civic or my motorcycle.

Whatever meets your needs, but 2 door cars hold thier value more than a 4 door. Not sure why.

depends on your needs. If you often have two or three other people that ride along, or if you have a child or two as well as a spouse, then you'll want a four door. If you live alone and never have anyone else ride with you (or very rarely), you'll probably want one with only two doors.

I prefer 4 doors because it's more convenient to get into back seat instead of climbing in back through front.

depends on the family needs.. some do with a motorbike.. and some arent satisfied with a seven door limo
