There are a million... I'll agree with you, though on Quentin Tarantino, there's really no point to his movies. I mean, Pulp Fiction is good, but that's about it. I like Spike Lee, though, Do The Right Thing was really good, and Inside Man is the first movie I've ever seen and thought, "Damn, that is some good direction!"
Oh, and yeah, the Wachowski brothers are way overrated. The first Matrix was very good, but mostly for the story and special effects. The rest sucked. Bad.
Oh, and I agree about Almodóvar (that he's overrated, not that he's the worst--there are MUCH worse). His movies are interesting, but they usually don't really deserve the acclaim they get.

All directors these days are overrated.
They find a formula that works and a few actors that they can work well with and that is all they ever produce form fitted cut out movies with the same stars in each and everyone.
I am looking for the director who takes a script because it is different and picks actors for the same reason.

MICHAEL BAY!!! Ever seen "Pearl Harbor"? WORST insult to WW2 veterans i have ever seen, not to mention it was an absolutely atrocious movie.
When i saw that "Transformers" was going to be a movie, i thought, "hey, that could be ok" Then the screen said "a Michael Bay film" And i burst out laughing in the theater.
the most underrated would have to be Steven Soderbergh, he has an undeniable style to his direction, and made one of the coolest movies in existence, "Ocean's 11". I myself am a budding young filmmaker, and i learn a lot from watching Soderbergh's films.

Well Spike Lee has his moments where he disappoints some of us who are his fans with movies like "He got Game" and She Hate me....I actually enjoyed the Inside Man, that was an excellent movie he redeemed himself and also Bamboozled, one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

James Cameron. Titanic was a glorified date movie as obvious as it was overblown, the Terminator series deteriorated into one overblown stunt after another, and The Abyss wasted good actors when Cameron wasn't actively trying to kill them. (Ed Harris went into cardiac arrest because of something Cameron insisted on)

Woody Allen, because his movies are always critically acclaimed; yet, they're dumb as can be. Never any action. They are always too much idiotic talk. Shoot someone for petes sake.
