To get rid of scars, you will require help from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Some of the new otc scar treatments will help fade the scars but it will not get rid of them. If you have keloids (raised, bumpy or ropy scars), only seeing a dermatologist of plastic surgeon will make a major difference.

Take the yolk of an egg, spread liberally on face. Take care not to get it in your hair or eyebrows becuase it's hard to get out (not impossible or damaging, just icky). Wait till it drys completely, peel off, and wash face. Do it for a month, and then once a month if it seems to come back. Totally works, but takes a lot of patience. Plus, peeling it off can be messy. Washing it off is also an option, but that's slimy and I don't think it works as well.

IT REALLY WORKS. I read it in dear abby, and I've done it a few times. Always helped. Also, doesn't just change the color, but smoothens out the dents too.
