One thing that many people forget is their role in the doctor/patient relationship.
You hire the doctor, the doctor works for you. He is your consult, and it is the doctors privilege to treat you, not the other way around.
Now before you get too arrogant, let's examine what your role should be. You are responsible for your health care. You choose the doctor and sometimes you choose another doctor. When you see this doctor you give them a list of symptoms and they in turn give you their professional opinion on what to do about the symptoms. How do they know the answer? it's really quite simple. As with any profession, the practitioner knows how to research for the right answer. They are trained in medical school, during a quite lengthy and rigorous process. And you, as the patient, have an absolute obligation to present a comprehensive list of symptoms and then to make the decision to heed the attending physicians advice, to get a second opinion or to let the matter stand.
So as with anyone I would hire to share their trained expertise with, I would not hesitate to speak my mind, appropriately of course, if I felt I was being mistreated. If I was ignored, I would take my business elsewhere, such as a different doctor, mechanic, vendor, etc. Good luck.

Yes. When I was a young, naive 18-yr old, I was having problems and went to a GYN at a public health clinic. It was my first time ever going and I was scared to death. The doctor was this little bone-thin, 5 foot tall asian dude. After he examined me he grabbed my stomach and tried to shake it around....telling me nothing was wrong with me...I was just fat! (which i'm not, but I guess compared to him, I was) I was mortified and humiliated!
He didn't treat my problem and I dealt with it for the next 5 years cause I was ashamed and thought I brought it upon myself. When it eventually got much worse I did go to a female GYN at a regular office who informed me that I have a well-known and treatable condition that was of no fault of my own.
To this day I will not see a male doctor unless I have to.

I have spent ten years trying to get my health sorted out. The rudeness and arrogance of some doctors is unbelievable....I have walked out of a doctor's office on a few occasions rather than listen to their crap. I am also a nurse and find their attitude terrible at times.

Yes, in an emergency situation (not emergency room; I went to my normal HMO) I had a very rude, rough male doctor. I don't know if they tell male gyns that they need to be gentler than that or what. At any rate, I only see my gentle female gyn now, no matter what.

God yes! There are so many rude doctors. They have such arrogance, they don't like you to ask questions and if you have the nerve to say you don't want to take drugs they get furious. I suppose they're worried about the handouts from the drug companies stopping. Don't they know that their attitude is part of the healing process,(or if they're the rude sort, part of the destructive process).and they are not "curing" you, they are enabling your body to heal itself! (If they're any good)

Yeah and I slapped him. I went to my ENT and I told him not to put that tongue depresser in my mouth. He said he wouldn't and as soon as I opened my mouth he put the depresser in there and I slapped him. The second time he was going to do a rhinoscopy in my nose and he tried to force the numb medicine in my nose and I almost hauled off and slapped him again....the nerve!!!

I know literally dozens of rude Drs.
What is truly sad are the patients that tolerate it.

Yup, and I don't ever go back. I'm paying for a SERVICE and if I don't get the service I expect, then I do not pay. It's just that simple.
