Because we CARE what we look like and want to look our best. That is young and attractive, so we shower, shave (or not) and deodorize whenever possible, then we spend whatever we can on clothing to look up to date (at one point, I had 36 pairs of shoes) and was left behind by most of my friends because they had much more. However I was single (Hey, you "marry" someone YOUR SIZE you DOUBLE your wardrobe!!!) LOL. So, mostly its a little vanity. We simply want to attract someone who LOOKS LIKE US. That is clean and good / decent looking. Simple.

Because you believe the media. How many gay men do you know personally? Is your question based entirely on "Will and Grace" and "Queer Eye"?
Most gay men wear whatever color jumpsuit is used by their prison.

cuz they really care about how they look and they prefer nice things. there's nothing wrong with that.
