Hi, I think you still have classes. How could the schools be officially closed in the Philippines for a SONA, right? Your parents or you may prefer not to go to schools in case there are protests, but that is another matter.

The State of the Nation Address [SONA] is an annual event in the Republic of the Philippines - in which the President of the Philippines reports on the status of the nation, normally to a joint session of the Philippine Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate).
The address is also an opportunity for opposition parties to protest against the government. In 2005, tens of thousands of people attended protest rallies during the State of the Nation Address of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, calling on her to resign.
...But, why should 'we' not 'have classes on July 24, 2006' - when most of us, Answerers, do not live in the Philippines - and are not even students anymore ?!
