people do not all come from the same place...that they do not all come from africa?"Black" is not a place, country, area,or continent...so why does everyone else get called where they came from(mexican,dominican,italian,etc.etc..),but the minute the skin changes from caramel to brown, you're just "black" and that's the end of it?

That is just your stereotypical opinion about dark skinned women. Why would anyone think that? Unless you are a racist or idiot. Dark skinned women are the most envied of all others. Suppose someone ask a question like, "Why don't people like white skinned girls"? Why don't white women like white men? Why do white women prefer Dark Skinned men? Any body with common sense will know that is a stupid remark put into a question.

I never understood that either. My son- in- law is African American/White and people says he's black and he's a light brown color. His dad is African American and he was born in Trinidad. That's not even Africa. My son-in-law was born in Turkey, does that make him Turkish. The only reason for that is because his parents were in the service. My nephew and nieces
are also mixed with African American/Mexican American and some are dark, some are light skin, and they look more African.
And my grandchildren one has my son-in-law's hair texture, and
the other one is 7 months and her hair is growing and you can
see that her hair texture is changing. But she looks like my
Daughter, You can tell by their expression they see both
children looking different. As you and I know we don't have to explain nothing to them.

American and when they find out my sisters are their mother
some people just look to find the resemblance. It's like what are
you staring at, do we owe you something. Do you know what I
mean?

It's just a method to describe someones general appearance without getting petty. You're either Black, White, or Asian. With the exception of some southern Indians who really are black, the color brown could describe just about anyone with a tan.

Since "black" people can come from Africa or the US or Brazil or the West Indies, that term seems to be a catch-all term that includes anyone who shares that particular amount of melanine concentration.

You just can't look at a "black" person and tell where they might be from.

Reverse the question and ask it again... why do people refer to everyone light complected as white? we are not all white we vary in shades like our darker brothers. What this comes down to in my opinion is humanities overwhelming desire to drop everything down to the most basic of generalizations. maybe the question should be why do we do that?

there are only three primary types of skull and facial features: caucasian-white, African-black, and mongoloid-Asian. I would not assume someone is "black" just by their skin color. they would need to prominetly display distinct facial attributes of the African skull type. Hispanics can have extremely dark skin but without displaying an African skull type I would not consider them "black".

Dude, people call asians, canadians, americans, and some mexicans white. I don't think about it as a problem. It is what our brain tells us from what we see. It can be misconceived as racism, but it isn't (in almost all cases). Don't fret over it.
