i would be completely against it if we could reinstitute life sentences at hard labor for the worst offenders. i'm sure that living in a maximum security prison is no picnic anyway, but it's still a little too cushy for murders.
i also think it is violative of a basic respect for human life that a decent civilized society should possess.
but there is still a part of me that thinks that execution serves some pretty important purposes - punishment, retribution for the victim, ensures that the executed person will never kill again, etc.

Did you know China has the death penalty for drug offenses. They have over 10x's the numer of executions then we do in the U.S. Do I agree or disagree...tough one

Well, sometimes I feel death penalty is too kind (lenient) for someone who's done a really evil thing.

Capital punishment doesn't change facts. You're just legally killing someone because you believe in a life for a life.

I have to say I disagree. Life in prison sounds a lot better. It's a lot slower.
