One reason people in general, not just Dems, are complaining about how long the war is taking, is because there was no reason for this lame war. There were no WMDs, terrorism is more widespread now than ever, and Iraq will never be stable...this is a quagmire, not a war that we can "win" with any kind of dignity and pride. Our soldiers are doing a heck of a job with no clear mission , no proper equipment, no down time for stress, and a commander in chief who clearly does not support them the way the common citizen does. The comment about us speaking English was not relevant. Germany tried to take over the "world", Iraq didn't try to do anything, WE invaded them!

Americans can be so fickle. Just 3 short years ago the Democrats AND Republicans voted for this war. Are we supposed to leave now when victory is in sight? When Iraqi's are just about trained to take over? That would be like quitting WW2 before liberating the Jews from concentration camps. Thank God for a president with integrity and character to not listen to every contrary poll. What would we have done with Gore?

What would we have done with Gore? we would have attacked the right damn country! Osama would be in custody or dead!
It is too bad that Ted Kennedy represents what most people think of as "the left."
We really didn't need the 3rd Inf. Div to take out the Republican Guard-we could have dropped Kennedy on them!!

Yeah, but they Republican guard is not our enemy anymore. The insurgency is. That egment of the war is over, now we have to rebuild and win the peace as well as the war. The War isnt over until the Iraqis are controlling Iraq and we are completely pulled out.

Historically speaking you are incorrect, but that is not the issue. To "win" a war is easy,to achieve peace that is the rub.In our present 24hr news cycle,it is imposable to quantify military campaigns against any in our previous history. To give an example,American forces incurred more loses on D-Day,than in the entire operation ongoing in Iraq.

A Colombian paramilitary could've taken out any branch of Saddam's Republican Guard.

The war is over... remember "mission accomplished"?
we're complaining about how long the rebuilding is taking because Rummy makes it sound like it's the third strongest army in the world when he talks about them... but we're still there...
