I like walmart because everything is cheap but I don't buy my shoes or clothes there. I have to go to the mall for most of that stuff.

Walmart exists because of our artificial economy.
Main St was once the place to get all your needs. I remember this very well..the shoe store, the clothing store, the butchers shop. And this was not so long ago in the later 60's to early 70's.
Now all these "stores" are all under one roof as a Walmart - Delivering low prices thru tremendous buying power.

Artificial economy? Starts when illegal immigrants come over and offer to work for substantially less than an average citizen, there by increasing the agribusiness profit, they become used to the margin created and threaten to increase pricing if the undocumented are not allowed into our country to work for dirt cheap pay.
It just cycles out of control from there, but you get my drift.

right now no i don't like walmart b/c where i live was hit hard by hurricane rita(no not the one that hit effing new orleans the other one that no one knows about or cares about even though it took out an entire parish down here. a parish is like a county) srry had to vent. but anyway the walmart here is only open from 6am-10pm so the lines are always super long and it's just a huge hassle to get anything done. so no i don't like walmart very much at the moment

Ok from a worker's perspective: Wal Mart sucks. I get paid 7.80 /hr and have been there 2 years. I only get 20 hours paid vacation but cannot use it after September. Even though I just got this earned up in May. We have had 3 customers pass out and one associate because it is kept too hot in our store. And Wal Mart will pay for none of their injuries. I know of 3 people suffering from heel spurs from working there. They will not have compassion and let you go if your child is in the hospital (this has happened to 3 associates). The list goes on and on and on...

But as a shopper the store is only slightly good. After all all of this anguish is reflected in the associates every day as they help customers. But the prices are good.

I have mixed feelings about Walmart. Because one Walmart in one city will have one price and another Walmart in another city will have a different price FOR THE SAME ITEM!!!!

Yes.
btw, they publicized a new program where they will not prosecute shoplifters if the item is less than 25$ in value. Seems like this is an advertisement to go shoplift 24$ stuff for the thiefs out there...

Walmarts, OK. It's better than Target.

No.
They put small businesses out of business, they pay their employees crap and give them crap benefits, they sell crap, and they import as much as possible. having SOME Imports is fine, but in the quest for the absolute cheapest prices of all, Walmart totally bypasses American-made goods. (in america, of course. the same situation in Europe).
I personally watched our local walmart and home depot put 4 small businesses out of business. The local drug store (the small-town kind that has everything) of 35 years? gone. The cool family-owned hardware store? gone. one of the 2 bookstores? gone. 1 of the 3 local auto mechanics? gone. All because they no longer have enough business. Thanks Walmart!

I don't. Most people don't think about it I guess, but there's a reason why their prices are dirt-cheap. Personally I'd much rather spend a couple of extra dollars at a store like Target that uses fair labor practices and that doesn't ship jobs overseas and that doesn't import everthing they can from China.

I don't like it. This could potentially hurt the economy of the US. With the prices at wal mart so low, things can get out of wack. Plus the wal mart near me is hicktown USA.
