I'm just going to be a wiseacre on the main question; Truman was obviously clairvoyant, and knew that North Korea was GOING to attack us, so it was a pre-emptive movement. Maybe Eleanor Roosevelt was communicating with Hilary Clinton, who gave them the heads-up.
POKI POKI; you were really sleeping through history, obviously. We were totally uninvolved in the start of both world wars and the Vietnam conflict. About the only wars we came close to 'starting' were the Revolutionary War and, maybe, the Spanish American War. The Maine might have been an accident, but the tensions were already there.

It was basically a proxy war. North Korea never attacked us. They did however attack South Korea in an attempt to unify the country. The USSR was fighting vicariously through N. Korea as we were through S. Korea. I don't think wether they attacked us or not entered anyones mind except the soldiers fighting there.

No, but they attacked an ally and non-communist nation in south korea. After WWII our main goal and focus was to stop the spread of communism by any means. This also covered Vietnam and many CIA assasinations in central american countries at the time.

No Korea never attacked us directly, the Korean War was a part of the communist containment policy. Fought so that we didn't start completely losing Asia to communist alliance forces.

No, but arguably we were obligated to aid South Korea when it was attacked by North Korea, and this was authorized by the United Nations.

Iraq didn't attack us either. The terrorists were from Pakistan and Syria. Bush wouldn't dare attack those countries though, because they would actually fight back.
