When I was little, my favorite books were Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. They were read to me over and over again, and then when I could read, I read them over and over again. I never got tired of them.

Later, at about age 12, I read a book called The Long Ships by Frans Gunnar Bengtstom. A mock saga of the Vikings, it fired my imagination, and led me to study dark age and medieval literature in college. I teach Medieval English Lit. today when I'm not directing plays, so I guess The Long Ships would have to be my favorite because of the results of my reading it.

Well, when I was 12 I read a book called 'Death, Be Not Proud' and to this day, I consider it one of my favorites!

But before I was 12, I read 'Silas Marner' (by George Eliot), and it was my favorite from ages 9-12.

I loved books about Babar, The Elephant King. He had all sorts of interesting adventures and friends. One of my favorites is when he and his family got to another planet. The illustrations were captivating. i think the author is Laurent de Brunhoff.

The first book I ever read was, "Are You My Mother" and I also really liked "A Polarbear in the Frigid Air" (or at least I think that's the name of it-it's a poem) by Shel Silverstein.
