A frog is an indent in a brick.

Some bricks have perforations. I.e. holes all the way through.

Some bricks are solid i.e. no perforations or indents...

And others have frogs. This can be a shallow or deep indent like those made famous by the London Brick Company (now Hanson PLC) at the start of last Centruary.
