I want to avoid the tourist scene as much as possible. He lives in the Dells, while I live a couple hours away. I just thought it would be a nice suprise for me to have a list of ideas. Suggestions such as a great place for a walk, a quite dinner, laser tag (yeah yeah, okay, i know - touristy) etc. Please, try not to be lame... Thanks everybody!

There is a great steak house in the Dells called The Del-Bar, it's not overly expensive, but it is excellent food.

You guys could go camping at the state park that's on the south side of town. I can't remember the name, but it's under the 90/94 (going south on the main drag -- he'll know where), take the first right after the freeway and keep going till you see it. If I remember the name, I'll let ya know .. it's been a while since I've gone camping there, but it was fun!

I'm not sure which direction you live in (i.e. Milw, GB, LC, EC, etc) but you can drive to the Mississippi, which is about 2 hours from the Dells, give or take. Take 90 all the way out to La Crosse.

My fiance and I always get the 'olde time pictures' taken. Touristy, I know .. but c'mon .. fun! :)

I honestly have never seen a romantic restaurant around there. You may be better off driving into Madison, but that's .. what, 30 minutes? .. away, so it's up to you. As far as taking a walk, you can walk through the neighborhoods, and as long as you're off the main drag, it's relatively quiet.

I would recommend staying at Great Wolf if you have the money for it. I rented a jacuzzi/fireplace suite for my fiance on his birthday. We had so much fun .. it's like you're in a totally different world, even if it's only for the night. If you feel like being 'little kids' you can go down to the waterpark. I found that we're a little too big for it now, but it was still relaxing to be away from the house. Also, they have a restaurant in there (I think it's called something-Moose) and they have very good food. It is not too expensive, and *usually* relatively quiet because all the kids are in the waterpark.

Hope I was of a little help to you. The Dells isn't really a romantic kinda place, nor can you really find a quiet place. :)

great place for a walk with yr boyfriend would be a lonely street with trees both sides. If accompanied by slow breeze then it will be another plus point. During a date with someone my suggestion is to listen more then to talk. It feels the partner with confidence and allows him to share his maximum views with you without any hesitaion.
