I love to star gaze because the sky and stars are so beautiful at night. Well, my friend told me I'd go blind if I continued to do this night after night. Is it true?

So many people to jump into shortminded blots.

Heres my two cents:

It is possible to go blind, but a very very slim chance. The reason I say it's possible is because the more electromagnetic radiation (light) that enters your eye, the more the lens and cornea of the eye get played out. What I mean is there are tissues in your eye that have electrons. These electrons become excited everytime light hits it. After awhile the tissues get old and played out and lead to catarac. Catarac is when the lens of the eye stiffens, and often turns whitish in color. This eventually can, and will lead to blindness if untreated.

But I hardly doubt you will go blind anytime soon, and if it begins there is treatments! So nothing to worry about.

NOTE: All you answerers, dont try to blot out shortminded answers and be one of the first to answer, thats not how to get ur 10 points!

I like the answer from JC philippino.. :)

No, it is not true. You can gaze at the stars all you want. The sole exception is gazing at the closest star, which you can only do during the day. That particular one is close enough to cause some damage to your eyes after a long while.

Enjoy your starlit evenings. It is a pasttime that has been enjoyed since before there was real science.

it is not a narrative in any respect, it is in straightforward terms a fraction. i does not even evaluate it a short tale, notwithstanding. How did the two meet? Why have been they jointly? who're YOU? what's the plot line? the place is the separation of the paragraphs? Why have been the mothers and fathers staring at them in the 1st place? How did they the two comprehend it became into genuine love? There are too many grammatical errors. yet, if this individual plumped this fragment, further an incredible plot line, a twist, some style of concern, and greater factor, it is available they'd substitute into an author. yet wager what? all people can substitute into an author in the event that they set their suggestions to it. (author on the bookshelves, it is. This individual is already an author: They wrote this.) additionally, it became into meant to be written in 1938, even nonetheless it does not sound like it in any respect. on an identical time as examining the fragment, I forgot it became into meant to be IN 1938. I pictured it in the century we are in now. the author needs to take that under consideration, too.

During the day it might, the radiation from the sun can ruin your eyes. The light from distant stars is dimmed enough that they wont have enough radiation for it to hurt your eyes though.

Perhaps if there was a nearby supernova... but you'll know when that happens.

Glad to hear someone else enjoys stargazing. If you ever want to look at the sun be sure to use a filter though or you might not be able to see the twinkling nighttime stars.

Only a star so close and so numerous amounts of glare can make you blind, like the sun. Small , distant stars can harm your eyes.

With the naked eye no. But with a telescope looking at heavenly bodies yes. Galileo went blind the last ten years of his life because he was studying the sun with his Telescope.

If the star happens to be the sun, yes, you'll go blind. Otherwise, enjoy your stargazing.

Hi,

No! Don't really think so.
What happens to me when I stare at a certain star is that after some second it totally disappears...

Then I get bored.
