Actually, I'd have to point out that Kennedy did not START the Vietnam conflict, he just got us involved. That would be like accusing Bush of starting the Middle East conflict. It's been going on for a long time. ( If anyone can be credited with starting the Vietnam conflict, it was the French. You know, those folks who gave us such outstanding advice about handling the Iraqi attrocities. )

Johnson compounded it by getting us SERIOUSLY involved. Some poor Schmo named Nixon actually kept his promise, and got us out with as little damage as possible, given the circumstances. But he was apparently totally unlike all other presidents before or after, and actually was guilty of a few falsehoods.

Clinton did somehow get involved in both Bosnia and Somalia without complete and proper UN consent and oversite. Granted, he managed to command nearly as ineptly as a standard UN run expedition, so I assume that's why noone complained. Aren't we all glad that those areas have been converted to havens of peace and reason ?!? Oh, and don't forget, Clinton went to Egypt, and ended terrorism. I remember reading about that in the news, also.

JFK did not start the American involvement in the Vietnam War. Eisenhower did start it when France quit their war in Vietnam, and the war commitment was already made before Kennedy was elected.
Kennedy said in a speech in 1961 that American Forces can not win the War in Vietnam, that it had to be the Vietnamese who wins or loses the War. Kennedy was strongly considering pulling the troops out of Vietnam when he was killed.
I fear that is one of the reasons that Kennedy was assassinated. The US Air Force at the time believed that it could win the war with Air Power alone. Of course, we lost over two thousand aircraft trying to do it. But it did not happen. Ask some of the Right Winger's if they still believe we did not lose the Vietnam War.
And remember that they believed the same thing in Iraq. We actually thought that the shock and awe bombing would win the war for us in Iraq. The military and the right wing politicians were wrong again.
However, the Kosovo War was won by Air Power, and the problem was solved and we did not lose one troop by enemy fire in the war. One helicopter crashed for mechanical reasons and killed several crew members. And guess who was President, you got it, Clinton.

Bosnia was atrocities 10 times more horrible than anything in Iraq?

why do you guys love genocide so much?

You didn't want to go into WWII either?

I'm no big fan of Vietnam.. but it was many years ago... do you want to talk about Iran/Contra affair?

and the 9-11 conspiracy theories have better sources than your Bin Laden was offered to Clinton statement... you would believe anything if they were saying something bad about Clinton

I don't agree with our involvement in either Vietnam or Bosnia. But that's neither nere nor there. As for JFK starting the Vietnam war...we got involved in that war a little before he was president, 1945 to be precise. Even at that point, we were getting involved to aid the French, who surprisingly pulled out of Vietnam the first chance they got and left us with their mess to clean up.

Actually it was a civil war and the French did not want to just give up its colony You might read "Mandate for Change" by dewight D. Eisenhower He brought the USA into the Viet Nam war over tungsten & other raw materials unique to the area and also a deep fear of communism. By the way, Richard M. Nixon was his vice-president--ring a bell?

Do not understand the send question about Clinton!

JFK's predecessor started the Vietnam war; JFK died in part because he wanted to end it.

Clinton made weak first efforts in Bosnia; pretty much like he did in Iran (unlike the message Ronnie Regan did).

Clinton, like Bush, was blindly misinformed of Osama.

Vietnam was stupid, so was Bosnia. But it doesn't compare to the line of bull DICK Cheney and Bush gave us.

And there would be no Bin Laden if Reagan and Bush didn't give money, arms, and training to Bin Laden and the boys (that's when they weren't giving money, arms, and training to Saddam).

Remy, do you suggest that we sever ties with Russia, Japan, Germany, Italy and any other country we've ever had conflict with? Because you know, our support of them in A DIFFERENT CONTEXT might (just might!) come back to haunt us. Stupid...another question, why is it that people seem to ignore the fact that FDR put Japanese in internment camps and dropped atomic bombs oh, and broke term limit protocol...oh and packed the courts...oh and had affairs in office. Why is that never mentioned. Maybe because he was a democrat?

NO, JFK didn't start Vietnam. that conflict had been going on for years before we got involved, we were helping the French, again, when we got involved there.
