It depends on if you're looking for fictional or nonfictional accounts...and if you're looking for books about the time period...or about books only focusing on the soldiers. I have read extensively about the various homefronts of World War II...mainly focusing on wives and children...but very little on the soldiers and action of the war.
Good fictional accounts of World War II are
Eyes of the Emperor by Graham Salisbury
Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac

read the book "GOING SOLO" by Roald Dahl!IT'S NOT A KID'S BOOK!it is actually autobiographical ,not exactly a history book but it's background is ww2 when dahl fought in the RAF first in vichy and then in greece...it's a grat background of the war...especially the allied power's pitiful condition during and after the fall of france!
