You can. You'll have to buy a macrovision lockout device. I know that best buy sells one, and I think it sells for 100. You're going to have to hook that up to the yellow output on the back of the dvd player and it'll record. Otherwise the macrovision protection won't allow you to.

Yes, but the DVR needs an input buttons on the back that have yellow, red, and white indicators. Often AVI, if you don't have that then you can't record a dvd to a dvr.Depends on what kind of DVR, some just record to the hard drive. But mine is different, it's still the same and it's also called DVR. Thing is, other than recording on the DVR's hard drive. It records on blank dvd+r discs. If you want something that doesn't require you to use cd's, then stick with like Direct Tv's DVR if you have one. Or just get the one i bought. A Presidian DVR recorder. I got it for $79. It works just great!

But, DVR's are kind of getting old. What's new will be the Blu-ray discs that can hold more than 6 or 8 hours. Those are estimated to cost $300 and up.

You can buy the players that record the program and then can record it to dvd. But, they run around $300 or more.

If you have a computer with a real good video card, you can transfer the files from your DVR to the computer harddrive and then burn a dvd.

Most DVRs have outputs for VCRs, so that people can record programs to tape. These same outputs can be connected to a DVD recorder to record onto DVD. You find the program you want to record, start watching it, then press "record" on the DVD recorder.
