Count of Montecristo by Alexander Dumas. The hero is Edmond Dantés, a young French sailor who, falsely accused of treason, is arrested on his wedding day and imprisoned in the island fortress of Château d'If. After staging a dramatic escape he sets out to discover the fabulous treasure of Monte Cristo and catch up with his enemies. A novel of enormous tension and excitement, Monte Cristo is also a tale of obsession and revenge, with Dantés, believing himself to be an `Angel of Providence', pursuing his vengeance to the bitter end before realizing that he himself is a victim of fate. The author did a great job describing the emotions of the prisoner.Disbelief, denial, self pity, madness, apathy and finally hope. For God's sake don't see any of the movies based on the book. They don't do justice to the book.

For me, choosing a favorite book is like choosing my favorite star in the night sky. There are millions to choose from!

A few that I have read over the past year....
- The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (absolutely amazing)
- America by E.R. Frank
- True Believer and At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks

'Wild Lavender' by Belinda Alexandra. It's set in France during the war and the main character joins the French Resistance.

'The Bronze Horseman' by Paullina Simons. Also set in the war, and it's a love story based around the 900-day-siege on Leningrad.

'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer. Human girl falls in love with a vampire... the ultimate bad boy ;)

Plus all of Harry Potter :)

The Green Mile ~ Stephen King.
Hands down. The movie and book are equally the same, and rarely you find a movie as good as the book.

I have lots of books I really love. Angela's Ashes is one of them. And, even though I am an adult, I really love all the Harry Potter books. Sometimes I wish I didn't read so fast just so the book I am reading wouldn't end so quickly.

Harry Potter
King Fortis the Brave
Eragon
Chronicles of Narnia

If I had to choose just one, probably King Fortis the Brave. They're all great, but I really fell in love with the Fortis characters!

If Tomorrow Comes by Sydney Sheldon, not the most intellectual but the easiest to read, I've read it three times now, twice on long flights as it is just such an entertaining easy read.
