Even though the cord may look undamaged, the wire inside the plastic insulation is probably broken.
This can happen if the wire is stretched hard or twisted repeatedly.
If you're good with a screwdriver and soldering iron, you should be able to rewire the speaker with a new cord. Head to your local electronics store like Radio Shack for help with fixing it yourself.

Its still a wiring problem. When something works part time it is usually a connection problem or something with the wires.
I would slowly pinch the wire, move it around slightly and move from one end to the other. If the speaker cuts out, at a certain spot, it's a probably broken inside somewhere. Lots of speaker wires are not soldered correctly at the plug in connections, I would check there carefully. Ask Best Buy what can be done, or ask someone to cut the wire open and take a look.

Sounds to me like one of your wires might be starting to break inside the sheathing. It actually happens quite a lot especially when the cord is twisted and bent down near the ends.
I am not sure how much these speakers are worth so what you might want to do is cut the cord about 3cm up from the plug and get a new plug for it. I think the cost about 50cents at Tandy or whtever the electronics shops where you are, are called.

Check the wire for good connection and wiggle the wires one at a time to see if may have a break inside the insulation.
Something loose somewhere it seems.

If it only works when the cord is a specific way, then that means there is a short in the cord.

One of the speaker's internal wires may be breaking. Replacement may be the only option. Good luck!
