You might or get a dvd player some tv's have them built in and go to netflix.com and pay a monthly fee to get dvd's

absolutely not! i have a tv, but no cable or satelite. i think it is a waste of money to pay for a lot of things i don't even want to watch(especially commercials!). :-)
